Karl Haushofer (1869–1946) was a German geographer and diplomat. He coined the term “Lebensraum”, which Hitler used to justify Germany’s eastward expansion. In this nicely illustrated booklet, Haushofer laments Germany’s loss of territory after World War I and argues for an expansion of the German empire to cover all of Germany’s “cultural earth.” Among other reasons, Haushofer justifies this eastward expansion on America’s expansion West through its ”wide open lands” (translated).
