Description

Vienna: Verkehr, 1946. 150 by 105mm (6 by 4¼ inches). Stapled pamphlet; 64 pp. In German and Czech. Nr. 2 in a ”special series” of publications. Very good.

Sudeten Germans (a.k.a. German Bohemians) were ethnic Germans living in the Czech lands of the Bohemian Crown. The Sudetenland was annexed by Germany with the 1938 Munich Agreement. After the Second Word War and as part of the Potsdam Conference in 1945 the German-speaking population was expelled and the German language almost completely eradicated. As this booklet from 1946 shows, 2,500 villages and towns with previously German names were renamed into Czech (and remain so to this day).
