1920’s Textile Design

Neues in Form und Farbe: 20 Tafeln, Männig and Werner, Plauen

20 separate plates of original gouache illustrations – some feature flowers, animals, while others are more abstract. These were sample images for textile design. Given the time period, one can easily imagine them being used in clothing or a favored slip-covered couch. It’s time for 1920 textile design to make a comeback.

This is a complete set and as originally published – the full 20 plates in remarkable condition. Very rare – only three holdings of this item in WorldCat.

Format 1 volume of 20 plates laid in; 17.5″ x 13″ (44.5 x 33 cm).

Condition Plates and original portfolio case in very good condition (case backing, as evidenced by color variation, may have been repaired). Some foxing (but generally not in the illustrations); evidence of rubbing from other plates on verso of each plate. Color on plates bright and clear – no fading or bleeding. Company stamp on each plate.

Published Plauen: Kommissionsverlag Oskar Haebler, Verlag für Kunst und Kunstgewerbe, [1920].
