[175 Photographs of Group Tours to the German-German Border]
n.p.: n.p., 1963–1970. German business document binder with two-hole punched roughly A4 sized heavy card stock; 175 original photographs (mostly silver gelatin) mounted on 52 leaves. Most photographs 100 × 70 mm, some as large as 200 × 170 mm. Many photographs with detailed handwritten descriptions in a clear and legible hand. Very good plus.
This photograph collection documents group excursions to the inner German border with the GDR and the border of West Germany with Czechoslovakia. The trips were organized by the Vereinigte Wirtschaftsdienste (a West German business trade group) and the Verein zur Wiedervereinigung Deutschlands (the Organization for the Reunification of Germany). Most of the photos are from the state of Hessen. The trips went to Helmstedt, Duderstadt, Altenburschla, Mahnmal Bodesruh, Leimbach, Philippsthal, Mödlareuth bei Hof, and other places. There are further photographs of the Arbeitsgruppe Ausstellungen des Büros Bonner Berichte in Ratzeburg with a trip to the border in Mecklenburg along with photos of an exhibition in Lünen in 1963 called ”It happened at the border” (translated).
It is unusual to find such an extensive collection of original photographs of the West German to GDR border.
Price: $1,500
