Cont. polished calf, rebacked, with the original gilt backstrips laid down. Corners of boards worn. Some light foxing, but overall very good. Bookplate of the Colinton House Library” in each volume. The Colinton House was once the principal residence of the Foulis family in Scotland. On the front pastedown of Volume 1 is a brief inscription in 1921 from the owner of Colinton House, at that time, T. M. Trotter. First edition of the famous diary of Samuel Pepys, a key work in English literature. Grolier 100, #75.
