Inscribed on October 15, 1945 in Los Angeles by Neumann to his American literary agent Felix Guggenheim in German. Neumann’s inscription is 11 lines. He expresses his friendship to Guggenheim, the start of a “fresh book path” (trans.), greets Evelyn (Guggenheim), and exclaims that he is now 50 years old. Very good, with the inscription lightly blotted.
Alfred Neumann (1895–1952) was a German author. This is one of his most famous books that has been retold in several movies. Neumann wrote a fictionalized account of Sophie Scholl and The White Rose, a non-violent, intellectual resistance group in Nazi Germany led by students.
