Theodor Herzl (1860–1904) was an Austro-Hungarian Journalist who perhaps more than any other individual contributed to the eventual establishment of Israel as an independent state. For four years, Herzl meticulously studied French politics from the press box of Palais Bourbon, the French parliament—which is detailed in this publication. Herzl assessed the structural flaws of French government and in his groundbreaking subsequent publication crafted a vision for a better democracy in the Jewish state.
Provenance: Collection of German American publisher and literary agent Felix Guggenheim (1904–1976).
