$495
Los Angeles: Pazifische Presse, 1956. Letter sized facsimile copy; 86 pp. Never bound and from the publishing company’s archives. Very good but for the 1st page, which is good. Browned throughout.
Lion Feuchtwanger (1884–1958) was a German Jewish novelist and playwright best known for his work Jud Süß. This play is set in Paris in 1793 and is an anatomy of a political trial, in which the accused—the widow Capet—was subjectively in the right and the accuser objectively so. Originally published in German in 1947 as Die Witwe Capet.
Provenance: Pazifische Presse archive & collection Felix Guggenheim (1904–1976).
