Frank, Bruno. Die Tochter. [One Fair Daughter]
$350
Mexico: El Libro Libre, 1943. 190 by 150 mm (7½ by 6 inches). Original paper boards; 322, [1] pp. In German. Inscribed by Frank to his American publisher in German: “Mr. and Mrs. Dr. Felix Guggenheim, with heartfelt devotion. Bruno Frank. 1943.” (trans.) Very good with light soiling to covers. A well-meaning but mis-informed soul covered the inscription with tape in an effort to better preserve it. Alas, the tape has yellowed and discolored.
Bruno Frank (1887–1945) was a German author, poet and screenwriter. This book covers the events of two generations in Poland from 1914–1939 from the perspective of a mother and daughter. It is one of the first books to explore the German invasion of Poland from a literary perspective. This is the true first edition, published in Mexico.
Provenance: Collection of Felix Guggenheim (1904–1976).
