Cont. half black morocco over marbled boards, expertly rebacked, gilt spine. Helms (1825-1918) visited California in 1850 (pp. 76-93), and again in 1872 (pp. 304-328). This scarce work is also a primary eye-witness source for the early history of Sarawak and British North Borneo.
